A rich and surprising story.

Created after 1st World War in 1921, the “Industrial and Agricultural Society of the Somme” had the goal to grow our region by investing in the sugar factory industries, distillery factories and farms.

In the aftermath of the First World War, the land in northern France, scarred by shelling, was no longer suitable for cultivation. In 1920, the Belgian group EVENCE COPPEE founded SIAS (Société Industrielle et Agricole de la Somme) and undertook a commitment to the French government to clear the land of mines.

SIAS is divided into two distinct business sectors:

  • property and sugar operations
  • fruit processing; this division is now known as SIAS MPA

SIAS MPA subsequently changed hands several times (first to PERNOD-RICARD, then to the Austrian company AGRANA) and expanded into international markets.

In 1990, operations began in Korea, with an initial division responsible for sauce production, under the auspices of AGRANA.

In late 2003, this sauce-making business officially adopted the name SIAS Co Ltd.

Over the years, SIAS’s activities diversified and became more complex. The company moved from tomato sauces to mayonnaise, then to ready meals from 2014 onwards. Flavoured oils, drink bases, ambient ready meals, salad dressings, frozen rice, noodles, onigiri… SIAS Co Ltd knows no bounds!

This growth has been supported by the acquisition and construction of several industrial sites:

  • 2005: the Ochang factory, the first
  • 2014: the Sunchang and Eumseong factories

Today, SIAS Co. Ltd. has five sites in South Korea : 

 

 

 

SIAS Co Ltd has decided to return to its roots and open a production site in France to win over European palates with its expertise.

In 2020: acquisition of the Roye site, followed by its refurbishment the following year.

With this new facility in Wisches, the group has made a strategic choice to base itself in Alsace in order to expand into European markets with its instant noodle recipes:

  • A location at the heart of Europe, close to Germany, Switzerland and the Benelux countries.
  • An industrial regeneration project, giving a new lease of life to a former production site.
  • A boost to the local economy and employment. 

And after?

We are creating this with you in France, at the heart of Europe and its logistics networks, now with branches in Picardy and Alsace.

Our mission is to help you discover – and, above all, to fall in love with (!) – the diversity of Asian cuisines, drawing on the expertise we have gained in Korea.
